چکیده

Cracked concrete arch dam’s behavior due to moderate earthquake magnitude and water pressure variation was investigated. Plain used cast the models with 45 Mpa design strength. A shake table has been planned, manufactured, built create a dynamic testing facility. The experimental work included of four scaled-down dams’ models, which is divided into two groups, each group contains different degrees curvature models. An artificial crack made at center body. extended finite element method (XFEM) outlined in order address numerical predicate for propagation crack. results showed that good all dams under intensity. dam higher degree recorded 17.8% 16.2% low displacement Z X-direction respectively, stress evaluation comparison owns lowest curvature. Hence, increasing led raising stability dam, resistance, less displacement, growth tensile cracks.

Are There Any Differences in Seismic Performance Evaluation Criteria for Concrete Arch Dams?

Differences between stress-based and strain-based criteria are investigated in seismic performance evaluation of the arch dams in time domain. A numerical model of the coupled dam-reservoir-foundation system is prepared with the finite element technique. Reservoir is modeled using the Eulerian approach as a compressible domain, and the foundation rock is assumed to be massless. Dynamic equilibr...

A STUDY ON NONLINEAR BEHAVIOR AND SEISMIC DAMAGE ASSESSMENT OF CONCRETE ARCH DAM-RESERVOIR-FOUNDATION SYSTEM USING ENDURANCE TIME ANALYSIS

In the present paper, nonlinear behavior of mass concrete simulated by smeared crack model is combined with Endurance Time Analysis (ETA) method for studying seismic response of arch dams. ETA is a time-history based dynamic pushover procedure in which special predesigned intensifying acceleration functions are used for analysis and estimation of structural responses in various performance leve...

Push-over analysis of concrete gravity dams due to flood inflow

This study numerically predicts the failure scenario of a cracked concrete gravity dam through a push-over nonlinear analysis. The mixed-mode Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM) was employed using the extended finite element method (XFEM). The dam base was considered to be fully fixed without any foundation effects. The hydrostatic pressure on the dam's upstream face was increased incremen...
